Water Treatment Training - The Responsible Person (Legionella Control)

This course is for Duty Holders, Directors and Senior Managers with the overall responsibility and authority to shutdown a site in the event of an emergency.  Covering the over-arching role of the nominated Responsible Person, this course also provides the opportunity for the attendees to discuss their specific role with the facilitator.

This course is not to be confused with lower level training courses for legionella awareness, management or control methods.

  • Staff with overall responsibility and authority, both operational & financial, regarding compliance with legionella control
  • Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) & Guidance including:
  • Site/building Senior Managers (Duty Holder)
  • Appointed "Responsible Persons" and Deputies
  • Other Site & Department Managers.

This one-day course aims to give sufficient detail for you to be confident in managing service provision and is designed to help support you in conveying the need for the site to fulfil their responsibilities:


1. Legionella risk assessment - The basics
2. What to expect from a risk assessment & risk assessment review
3. Impact of BS8580: Risk Assessments for Legionella Control
4. What needs to be included in the written scheme
5. What to expect from your service provider
6. What records should be maintained, and by who
7. What training should the various levels of site staff have received
8. Responsibilities of all parties involved in control of the risk.

Outcomes:

All delegates will be expected to complete a knowledge assessment and will receive certification of training bearing the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) logo and a statement that training is recognised by the RSC for the purposes of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

This course is managed by the National Skills Academy Process Industries and is available in Darlington, Warrington and Solihull from March 2012.  The Academy has negotiated a competitive rate for the process industries at £350 per person plus VAT (normally £500).
